Managing Director, Research Analyst

Jim joined Northcoast Research in 2019 as Managing Director and Research Analyst covering the Restaurants, Restaurant Services, and Jewelry Retail sectors and has over fifteen years of experience covering the restaurant industry. From 2016-2018, Jim was Managing Director and Research Analyst at Arthur W. Wood Company Inc. where he led the consumer research team that focused on consumer staples and the consumer discretionary sectors. From 2009 to 2016, Jim served as Managing Director and Consumer Analyst at Detwiler Fenton, covering food retail, restaurants, and CPG companies. Prior to joining Detwiler Fenton, Jim was the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner of Farmhouse Equity Research, LLC, a company focused on compiling proprietary supply-chain and survey research to evaluate company fundamentals across consumer, agro-industrial, healthcare, aerospace and alternative energy.

Jim’s research has been quoted in leading financial outlets, including Bloomberg, Barron’s, the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Newsday, The Nikkei, The Street, and Yahoo Finance. He has been featured on CNBC, providing commentary on stocks across consumer sectors, including restaurants, coffee, grocery retail and consumer packaged goods.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies degree from the University of Chicago and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Economics degree from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
